The 3rd Opium War | Opinion | The Moscow Times

Can you imagine a state where the main drug dealer also serves as health minister, where a drug that irreversibly damages a person’s brain and leads to certain death within two years is sold over the counter in pharmacies, and where any attempt to prohibit the sale of that drug is blocked by the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service?

It may be interesting to study the example of Russia, where desomorphine, commonly known by its street name “crocodile,” has become a huge hit among drug users.

Crocodile use has risen threefold in Russia since 2007. According to Yevgeny Roizman, author of “City Without Drugs,” about 15 percent of the drug addicts he has met are using crocodile. The Federal Drug Control Service puts the figure closer to 25 percent.

From the first day that addicts start using crocodile, their bodies literally rot away. They are typically covered with horrible sores, have gaps in their mouths where their teeth have fallen out, and the few teeth that remain are yellow and riddled with holes.

Israel, US, Germany mark 50 years since Nazi trial < German news | Expatica Germany

Israel said Sunday the 50th anniversary of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann’s trial will be marked in Germany and America, as well as in the Jerusalem building where the case was heard.

Tuesday marks a half-century since the start of the historic trial of Eichmann, the Nazi bureaucrat responsible for masterminding the logistics of Hitler’s “Final Solution” — the extermination of six million Jews.

The trial lasted eight months and, in December 1961, Eichmann was sentenced to death. He was hanged in Israel on May 31, 1962.

Israel’s cabinet said in a statement that the anniversary would be commemorated by official events in Jerusalem, Berlin and New York City.

“There will be three main ceremonies around the world,” it said.

“In Jerusalem, where the trial was held, at the Wansee Villa in Germany, where the Final Solution for the annihilation of the Jews was decided upon and in New York, where the largest single Jewish community in the world is concentrated.”

The statement did not specify the dates of the ceremonies or give other details.

Prehistoric Human Brain Found Pickled in Bog : Discovery News

A human skull dated to about 2,684 years ago with an “exceptionally preserved” human brain still inside of it was recently discovered in a waterlogged U.K. pit, according to a new Journal of Archaeological Science study.

The brain is the oldest known intact human brain from Europe and Asia, according to the authors, who also believe it’s one of the best-preserved ancient brains in the world.

“The early Iron Age skull belonged to a man, probably in his thirties,” lead author Sonia O’Connor told Discovery News. “Cause of death is rarely possible to determine in archaeological remains, but in this case, damage to the neck vertebrae is consistent with a hanging.”

Hitlers propaganda stressed the importance of keeping fit and abstaining from drink and tobacco to keep the Aryan race strong and pure. But in reality his soldiers were taking addictive and damaging chemicals to make them fight longer and more fiercely.A study of medicines used by the Third Reich exposes how Nazi doctors and officers issued recruits with pills to help them fight longer and without rest. The German armys drug of choice as it overran Poland, Holland, Belgium and France was Pervitin – pills made from methamphetamine, commonly known today as crystal meth.
