Honorable Speaker Pelosi:

I heard you say that the people who oppose the construction of the Ground Zero mosque should be investigated.

Investigate me. I oppose the construction of that mosque.

This mosque, built in such close proximity to Ground Zero, is intended to send a message to America and another message to the Muslims who are gravitating toward human rights laws and secularism. We are sure that this mosque will cause nothing but division and justified ill will towards Muslims in this country.

I came to America as a political refugee, fleeing from the Islamic rule in Iran that subsumed a secular, woman-respecting government. As a human, woman, and a mother, I could not live under nor subject my daughter to such brutal, barbarian tyranny. What I see now occurring in my new home, America, is Islamists forcing their policies in bits and pieces, here and there. It is terribly disconcerting, not only to me but to all Iranian Americans and the large majority of Muslims who came to America to live in peace, freedom, and prosperity.

Madam Speaker: The Islamists are using the laws of this greatest of democracies to implement their ideology in any way they can — whether by propaganda, intimidation, the misuse of political correctness or anti-discrimination policies, or the minority status that this society puts at their disposal. Plus the most powerful of all tools, the money — the limitless petrodollars coming from foreign Islamist dictators with anti-democratic agendas.

Because the American Constitution calls for the separation of religion and government, the Justice Department, the ACLU, and others constantly minimize the influence Christianity and Judaism have on American secular society. What we, American Muslims, wonder: why is there an exception for Islam from the rules applied to others, even though the Islamic human rights record is deeply problematic and contrary to all the civil rights and individual rights laws of this great republic?

Why is Islam given a pass that is not given to Christianity or Judaism?

Madam Speaker: You are a powerful woman in the world, but you don’t care much about the human rights of hundreds of millions of women and children who need the support of the people like you to gain their individual freedom. You claim to be for the women’s right to choose, but then you ignore the right of women and children to have human dignity!

Manda Zand Ervin is the founder and the president of the Alliance of Iranian women. She was the U.S. delegate to the UN Commission on the Status of Women in 2008.

It always takes a real heroine to snuff out the posers, those who pretend to care about the plight of others, yet do EVERYTHING to obstruct their inalienable rights.
Such is the diseased mindset of ‘progressives/Marxists/socialists’ or whatever the heck they are labeled.

The proof as they say is always in the pudding. While Muslim women are subjugated by the most oppressive of all dictates via Sharia, Pelosi & her gang seek to ensure a smooth transition of Sharia into US society. While Iranian women were beaten before the world during the fraudulent elections-and at every juncture that they oppose the brutal mullahs- not a word of protest was uttered by ‘Madame Speaker’.Hmm…

Therefore, the only conclusion to be drawn is this-leftists/progressives etc are in ideological lockstep with Islam-United In Their Hate of all free people!!

I strongly agree that is would have be better to speak up for the females in the muslim mosques. Too many of these women have suffered too much. Today, if these women speak against the injustice that is part of their daily live, the men will murder/beat them into silence. Remember that in muslim society, the male has custody of the children.
There are some stories that are smuggled out for us to hear. But the identity of the woman is kept secret. We hope that one day they will be able to speak freely about the troubles they endure.
Until that day, we can be a voice speaking on their behalf.

First, I’m glad you came here and escaped from Iran’s Islamic overthrow. As I’m probably preaching to the choir, how many idiot, I’m sorry to be so pejorative, women married Islamic men in the late 70s and then went to Iran only to have their passports stolen, and been forced to live in slavery.

As for Nancy Pelosi; making a plea to her is like the old song, “you don’t spit into the wind.” Nancy should never be begged from anyway. She should be mocked, marginalized, and ignored. Doesn’t her head scarf wearing dhimmitude demonstrate clearly what kind of groveling political sand snake you are dealing with. Don’t get anywhere near her, lest she be within striking distance.

  4. “Why is Islam given a pass that is not given to Christianity or Judaism?”

Why? Because Christians and Jews don’t strap bombs on themselves and blow up trains or restaurants or fly jet planes into buildings, that’s why. I’ve come to the conclusion that people like Mayor Bloomberg in New York City or Obama think it’s a lot cheaper and easier to simply inslut or ignore the feelings and rights of Christians and Jews in this country than to stand up for American principles in the face of possible attacks from Islamic extremists. What a bunch of cowards and multicultural appeasers we now have running this country. Instead of standing tall and standing for freedom, we now justify any form of barbaric treatment on individuals and cloak it under that pathetic heading of “multiculturalism.”

You want to stone a person to death for supposed adultery? No problem, it’s allowed under multiculturalism. You want to treat women and girls like chattel? Don’t worry, your society allows it. You want to allow the raping of women and the killing of gays? Hey, knock yourself out, if it’s OK by you then it’s OK by us. You have a religion that says it’s OK to turn children into suicide bombers or to issue “fatwas” calling for the death of 3,000 Americans? Well, no religion is perfect, right?

And even when our limp-wristed politicians object to something, they say they “condemn” those actions. Ooooooo, that will make those radical Islamists shake in their sandles. If we don’t stand up to these animals in our own country, how can we expect them to fear us overseas? So long as these politically correct, multicultural jerks remain in power here in the west, we will eventually lose our struggle against radical Islamists. And if Muslims like Manda Zand Ervin can see this, why can’t our own politicians?

Dear Miss Ervin: I know that your letter is just a device to express your position, but, nevertheless: Don’t get your hopes up. If Nancy Pelosi is willing to usurp the Constitution and violate individual rights (through socialist legislation), she’s not likely to care a fig about the persecution of women in any Islamic country or culture. More likely, she’ll accuse you of bigotry and “cultural imperialism.” I think you underestimate her fundamental nihilistic character. She, and President Obama, and Chris Dodd, and Harry Reid and others are intent on destruction for the sake of destruction. And don’t you think it is odd that, for example, for all the feminist college professors in this country, not one (that I am aware of) has uttered or written a word against the brutal treatment of women in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and other Islamic countries? It would not seem so odd unless one grasps that these feminists are as anti-life and anti-Man as any random environmentalist or imam or mullah. Their heads are in the sulfuric clouds of moral and cultural relativism, and they, like Pelosi, can’t be bothered with genuine rights issues.
